U.S. Chamber and RecruitMilitary Collaborating on Vet Hiring Event in Virginia Beach on November 17The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the military-to-civilian recruitment firm RecruitMilitary will collaborate on a hiring event for military veterans at Sandler Center for the Performing Arts in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Thursday, November 17.
The RecruitMilitary- On March 24, the U.S. Chamber had already launched “Business Steps Up: Hiring Our Heroes,” a year-long effort to help veterans and their spouses find employment by means of veteran hiring events. The U.S. Chamber has scheduled more than 100 Hiring Our Heroes events across the nation through March 2012. Already scheduled to attend the event in Virginia Beach are Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Bon Secours – Virginia Health System, Carmax, Cellular Sales of Virginia LLC, Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Chevron, DeVry University, First Command Financial Planning, G4S Secure Solutions (USA), Georgia School of Construction, Grand Canyon University, Ingersoll Rand Company, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Military Sealift Command, Military to Medicine, Modern Woodmen of America, Morgan State University, the National Veterans Employment Program (NVEP) of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Naval Supply Systems Command, Navy Exchange Systems Command, SGS North America Inc., State Farm Insurance Company, The Art Institutes, The Babcock and Wilcox Company, The Home Depot, TMX Finance, Troy University, and Verizon Wireless. The Virginia Beach event and an event in Concord, North Carolina, on the same day will be the 10th and 11th of 13 Hiring Our Heroes/RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expos produced by RecruitMilitary in 2011. The remaining two will take place on December 1 in San Diego and December 8 in Houston. To maximize the number of employers participating in those events as well as the job opportunities for veterans and military spouses, RecruitMilitary is offering companies that are members of the U.S. Chamber and local chambers a 10% discount on the cost of their exhibition booths. Additionally, RecruitMilitary will offer further price reductions for small businesses (businesses that have less than 50 employees), and even lower rates for veteran-owned small businesses.
