Mont-Co Toastmasters hear an Icebreaker and an Inspirational Speech. New website also up & running.

Sept. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- The Montgomery County Toastmasters Club of Hillsboro, IL met at the beautiful Challacombe house on 9-20-11.  Twelve members were present.   Club president Maria Eilers served as the evening's Master of Ceremonies.  During business, the club elected immediate past president Bill Guthrie to take over for Bruce Sanford as the club's new Sergeant at Arms.  Club mentor and vice-president of public relations, Todd Austin, DTM also announced that the new club website which he created is up and running at: http://www.MontgomeryCountyToastmasters.org .

The first speaker was the club's newest member, Jamie Powers. Jamie presented her 1st speech as a member of Toastmasters, which Toastmasters International refers to as an 'Icebreaker'.  The club got to learn a bit about Jamie who is a vocational director, a yoga instructor and a certified Zumba instructor.    

The second speaker was Ryan Goodall, CTM.  Ryan delivered a 10 minute inspirational address about how "You Can Change".  He discussed how and why many of us could make the decision to change for the better regarding exercising, weight loss, to have a more positive outlook on life, etc.  This was Ryan's 12 speech as a member of Toastmasters.  It was from the "Special Occasion Speeches" Advanced Toastmasters Manual.

Alan Saeger was in charge of the impromptu speaking part of the program.  Each member who was called upon had 2 minutes to speak on his or her topic. This made for some entertaining responses.  All topics were related to the theme of "health and medicine".

The Montgomery County Toastmasters club # 1252478 will next meet on Tuesday, 10-4-11.  Once again, they'll meet at the historic Challlacombe House in Hillsboro from 7 PM to 8 P.M.. Guests are always welcome and encouraged to attend. The prepared speakers for the next meeting will be Bill Guthrie & Martha Ruppert.
