With manufacturers now feeling the pains of Japan's inability to produce and export to the U.S. this situation could just add to those concerns. Both problems at once may affect U.S. production in many industries. As we look toward other producers for materials it can drive up costs. Can that be passed along to the consumer in a sluggish economy? My guess is no. The FOMC announcement and press conference is bound to be very interesting.
