"Harvey Milk" DJ Displays Musical Gems On Jill Scott Vault Mixtape

April 12, 2011 - PRLog -- When organizers for last year’s inaugural “Harvey Milk Day,” a celebration of the life and contributions of openly gay political activist Harvey Milk, were looking for a sound architect, they tapped LA native Tony Nuccio.

Most recently, boutique label Hidden Beach challenged the up and comer to develop a mixtape to present material from their Just Before Dawn: Jill Scott FROM THE VAULT Vol.1 release. Nuccio, a Producer and web specialist, also known in West Hollywood club circles for his unconventional soulful soundscapes at popular watering holes such as Fubar and Mikey’s jumped at the opportunity and delivered a worthy introduction named simply: Just Before Dawn (Tony Nuccio’s Vault Mixtape).

“Jill’s music has trained my ears and made me a better DJ. “ states Tony Nuccio. “While it’s mostly mid and downtempo selections and required a unique presentation, I’m happy to mix Soul and Jazz because I feel it’s the origins of today’s Pop Music.  I’m glad that this modern Diva’s mixtape is being received so well by the fans.”

“We’re excited by what Tony has come up with for Jill’s mixtape. “ states Thornell Jones, the project’s Marketing Director. “It’s definitely what we were looking for – an introduction to the Vault record that draws you in with ear candy. It’s great how he’s sonically branded the idea that these songs are gems from the Hidden Beach Vault.” Jones continues, “It’s an added bonus that through Tony this music will also be exposed in LGBT circles, as many of Jill’s early fans were gays and lesbians who appreciated her unconventional musicality.”
