Jolinski The full-service Winter Park design firm, which has provided design and model merchandising services for many residential communities throughout Florida and the Southeast over the years, introduced five new models, revitalized and updated five others and transformed the remaining homes at the Solivita model center into guest accommodations for prospective buyers vacationing in the area, says MDG President Christy Scanlon. The ambitious design makeover continues what has been an “ongoing celebration” The Younger Next Year concept was introduced in the New York Times best-seller by Chris Crowley and Dr. Henry Lodge and focuses on a wide spectrum of healthy lifestyle choices available for persons over 50. The book prompted Avatar to seek and establish an exclusive partnership with the authors to formally crown Solivita the first YNY community in the country. “Our 10th anniversary is significant because it ushers in the next evolution in lifestyle community design,” says Vereb. “We are now providing our residents with a more holistic approach to lifestyle that will enable them to lead a batter, healthier and longer life. “Solivita has been recognized many times over the past 10 years as one of the best places in the country to retire,” she adds. “Our distinction as the first YNY community in the United States can only enhance that reputation.” The challenge facing MDG was to integrate that distinctive “younger lifestyle” theme into the design of each of Solivita’s 15 models that would reflect this new direction, says Scanlon, noting that specific design profiles were established for each. “The interiors of the models were designed to reflect the many facets of life within Solivita, as well as the interests and pursuits of those who reside within,” says Scanlon. “Whether transforming a room into a yoga studio or highlighting a secondary bedroom or den as a resident’s in-home art studio, the models were purposely designed to showcase the flexibility and variety of lifestyle choices available at Solivita.” “It was a monumental task but one that had to be done to keep pace with not only the direction Solivita was taking but the evolving mindset of today’s generation of active adults,” adds Vereb. “Our new models are truly representative of the hobbies and interests of the more than 6,000 people who now call Solivita home.” Although MDG has provided professional services for many of the industry heavyweights, it is the first opportunity the 12-year company has to work with Avatar.
