Tea with Beatrix Potter at Barrington Hall

March 5, 2011 - PRLog -- (Roswell, GA)   Barrington Hall proudly hosts the annual event “Tea with Beatrix Potter” on the grounds of this historic home on April 23, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. This springtime tradition features beloved author “Beatrix Potter,” as played by Atlanta actress, Holly Stevenson, as she brings to life her friends Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck, Tom Kitten and others, through captivating story-telling and puppet mastery.

Holly Stevenson has been an actress for 25 years and has performed one-woman shows for thousands of Atlanta schoolchildren. As for the character of Beatrix Potter, a local playwright wrote the show with Stevenson in mind. Initially, Stevenson was unfamiliar with Beatrix Potter other than the “Tale of Peter Rabbit,” but she developed a deep admiration for the English artist and storyteller.

Stevenson says, “I feel very privileged to perform for young audiences and I love hearing their laughter and appreciation. It’s amazing that after a show, I find that I have new friends who let me know that, in some way, I have made a contribution to their lives. It’s a very special gift to me.”

In addition to Stevenson’s performance, tea will be served in the formal garden, along with lots of games and prizes. Attendance is limited and admission is $10 per person. For reservations, call Barrington Hall at 770-640-3855.

Barrington Hall is the home of Barrington King, son of Roswell King and co-founder of Roswell, GA. The 1842 Greek Temple museum/home has been lovingly restored and is open daily for tours. Surrounding area features the only antebellum garden in Atlanta.
