Follow on Google News | ![]() Imagine Prep's Newly Chartered Key Club Bridges Generational GapImagine Prep at Surprise’s Key Club bridged the generational gap on November 19th when they organized a “Hollywood Homecoming” for the Surprise Senior Center.
By: Kacie Buzzard The event was a great success; well over 30 seniors attended the red carpet affair, many dressing to the nines to match the Hollywood theme. Seniors enjoyed the opportunity to pause on the red carpet which was swarming with paparazzi (who looked a lot like Imagine Prep media students) asking questions about the seniors life experiences. Everyone agreed the highlight of the evening was the crowning of the king and queen, Albert Douek and Ellen Brice. Preston Rockwell, a junior at Imagine Prep and Key Club member, helped to organize the event. A committee met regularly to ensure the event’s success. Rockwell commented, “We put a lot of time into making sure this event was a real treat for the seniors. These are people who have given so much to our community. It was nice to give them something back.” The Key Club at Imagine Prep was chartered in November, but the club has already had great successes with service projects – as well as plans for more community outreach. Imagine Prep has a special emphasis on character development and building strong moral foundations. “The most incredible thing about this club is how much time and effort the we put in to our projects,” added Natalie Reyna, Key Club Vice President. “The club is truly student lead – we identify school and community needs, then come up with the projects and put a lot of time into making sure things are thoroughly planned. We have a strong dedication to changing and improving the world around us.” The Key Club at Imagine Prep is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Surprise. Kiwanis is an international organization for adults who are interested in serving the children of the world. Kiwanis is currently recruiting members and meets on select Mondays at 5:30 PM at the Marley Park Heritage Club.
