Follow on Google News | ![]() Imagine Prep at Surprise Cross Country Competes at State MeetOn a sun-splashed, 70 degree afternoon, the Imagine Prep Cross Country Team finished out their season at the CAA State Championship at Evelyn Hallman Park in Tempe.
By: Kacie Buzzard Boys’ Captain, seventh grader, Wyatt Entzminger set a school record at the two mile distance with a finishing time of 14:37 and a 10th place finish to lead the boys’ team. Justin Reyna, also had his best performance of the season with a time of 15:26 and a 19th place finish. Joshua Dunnavant (28th overall) and Andrew Chill (36th overall) logged times of 16:44 and 19:37, respectively. “Coach Trent and I are very proud of the kids’ effort and determination not only today, but during the entire season. All of the practices in the 105+ heat and these past couple cool mornings have made our kids tough,” said Coach Hymel. “There stellar performances at the state meet have us excited for the upcoming track season.” Seventh grader Kayleigh Sanson, fighting a foot and knee injury, also set a school record at the two mile distance for a 7th place finish and a time of 16:06. Girls Captain Shelby Nelson finished 13th overall with a time of 17:36. Lourdes Torres was right behind her teammate in 14th position and finished with a time of 18:35. “Our kids had a great performance at the state meet and worked well as a team,” comment John Buzzard Principal at Imagine Prep at Surprise. “The fact that everyone finished the season with a personal record is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication.” Imagine Prep is a tuition-free college prep school using professional technology and real world learning experiences to prepare students in grades 7-12 for college, career, and life.
