Titanic events in Belfast in 2011

Oct. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) is working with key partners such as Belfast City Council to co-ordinate an events and activity plan to celebrate and commemorate Titanic's centenary in 2011 and 2012. The significance of 2011 will be recognised and a number of events have been confirmed including the Titanic Shakedown Festival, a music festival which will be staged in March 2011 at various locations throughout the Titanic Quarter.

National Museums NI will proudly unveil their new Titanic Gallery at the Transport Museum, Cultra, which will feature the White Star collection of artefacts, as well as other maritime artefacts currently under wraps at the Museum. Although, the SS Nomadic will not be fully restored, it will open for a limited period so that visitors will have the chance to explore and experience this historic ship in 2011.

Belfast City Council's Titanic 100 Festival (formerly Titanic: Made in Belfast Festival) is planned for 31st March - 31st May 2011 and will include a full programme of tours, talks, theatre events and exhibitions.
