Jan. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Calvin Richardson, the Soul Prince of R&B is having a banner year.  In addition to two Grammy® nominations as a solo artist, he has also bestowed his songwriting gifts upon Charlie Wilson who is known the world over as R&B Royalty.

Charlie Wilson’s “There Goes My Baby”, co-written by Richardson, has been distinguished by USA Today’s Steve Jones to take the Best Male R&B Vocal category at the 52nd Annual Grammy® Awards taking place this Sunday, January 31st, further polishing the crown for the Prince and raising his stature among his R&B Royal Family.

This will be the third time his song craft has been recognized by The Recording Academy. The song “More Than a Woman” (Angie Stone, Mahogany Soul, 2001) earned Richardson his first songwriting Grammy® nod in 2003 and “Excuse Me” (Raphael Saadiq, Instant Vintage, 2002) earned Richardson his second Grammy® nod.  For his third, Richardson’s tune “There Goes My Baby” was chosen by Charlie Wilson to be featured on his latest Grammy® nominated project, Uncle Charlie.  Richardson was honored to have the legendary Wilson cover his song, who says of Calvin, “Calvin is one of the greatest up and coming male singers that I know,” foreshadowing great success and continued career recognition.

A recording artist in his own right, Richardson released his debut project Country Boy (1999) which includes the original recording of “More Than a Woman.”  His sophomore project, 2:35 PM, features production assistance by Raphael Saadiq while his third project, When Love Comes, (2003) features single “Sang No More.” Currently Facts of Life: The Soul of Bobby Womack (2009) is creating buzz among critics and Womack fans alike. As both a songwriter and an artist, Calvin Richardson, The Soul Prince, is positioned to place his crest on American soul music.
