MillionDollarMattress.com pledges donation to Haitian relief work through stillerstrong.org.

Jan. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- MillionDollarMattress.com is pleased to announce that 10% of all website sales through March 31, 2010 will be donated to the  STILLERSTRONG.ORG charity.

Many of us have been stunned by the recent earthquakes in Haiti and have seen the devastation on the news. There seems to very little we on-lookers can do to help so far away.  Patrick Haase and Mary Cable, partners at Haase Cable Enterprises, Milford, NH,  had been looking to donate to a meaningful charity for Haitian relief. They settled on STILLERSTRONG.ORG.

"We chose STILLERSTRONG.ORG because their efforts will help establish normalcy in a chaotic situation," said Haase. "The Haitian School Initiative, established by Ben Stiller's STILLERSTRONG, is an effort to help provide temporary schools for Haitians displaced by the earthquake on January 12, 2010."

The Haitian government has announced plans to resettle approximately 400,000 earthquake survivors from Port-au-Prince to temporary camps outside the city. For that reason the Haitian School Initiative will focus on quickly building temporary schools as soon as it is clear where large numbers of people will settle.  It is unclear at this time how long people will live in those camps, or where they will be relocated following their move to the temporary camps.

“Our goal is to help kids get back in school as quickly as possible,” said Stiller. “Schools are a safe haven for kids in times of crisis, and are instrumental in delivering not only education but also healthcare, nutrition and other critical services.”
