Sept. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- Chestertown, MD—On September 10th, the Village Bakery and Café in Chestertown will celebrate seven years of bringing delectable baked goods and homemade lunch and dinner café meals to the local Chestertown community as well as visitors passing through. Owned and operated by the entrepreneurial mother-daughter team of Ruth and Bethany Stoltzfus, the Village Bakery and Café has flourished in Chestertown by focusing on using the best quality local ingredients, providing superior service to all customers, and giving a keen attention to detail in every menu item.

Ruth Stoltzfus’ strong sense of culinary heritage and her passion for cooking and baking have been integral to the authentic menu offerings of the Village Bakery and Café. From signature café sandwiches and homemade soups to a wide range of doughnuts, muffins, cakes, pies, and breads, Ruth adds a personal touch to everything she makes so customers can enjoy a full palette of flavors. Ruth begins every day at the Café long before the sun rises and is a familiar face to morning customers. Her daughter, Beth, manages the operations of the Village Bakery and Café and is by her mother’s side at the Café on a daily basis ensuring that the menu items meet their quality standards. She also maintains the essential relationships with local vendors of fresh produce like strawberries, melons, tomatoes, and corn, as well as with farmers of grass fed cows for their beef recipes.

The homestyle baked goods that are served in a warm environment are the defining characteristics of the Village Bakery and Café. The seventh anniversary marks a time of expansion for Ruth and Beth who will soon be opening a Village Bakery location on Kent Island in order to offer their homemade baked goods and cakes to a wider range of Eastern Shore customers.

In response to the success of the company, Ruth Stoltzfus comments, “Thinking back to the opening of the Village Bakery and Café, I never anticipated we’d see such growth. It is very rewarding to have been a part of the business development over the last seven years. I am grateful for our customers’ support; without them we would not be where we are today. I look forward to serving the area communities in the future.”
