Follow on Google News | ![]() Hastings' James Sharrick Elected to Sertoma International Board of DirectorsSharrick has been a member of Sertoma since 1990, beginning his service with the Hastings A.M. Sertoma Club and then joining the Hastings Noon Sertoma Club in 2002. Over the years, he has served multiple terms as president in both clubs, demonstrating a strong commitment to Sertoma's mission of service to the community. Sharrick is involved in several club initiatives, including the sponsorship of the annual 8-Man Football All-Star Game, which supports the Sertoma Hearing Aid Bank. He also helps raise funds for hearing health equipment for Hastings Public Schools and to support community outreach initiatives such as holiday gift and meal programs benefiting The Bridge and Hastings Goodfellows. On the international stage, Sharrick has served as a District Governor, Regional Development Chair and Mission Specialist. He was named Great Plains Region Sertoman of the Year in 2019 and received the prestigious President's Service Award in 2014. Other international honors include multiple Tenure Awards and the Sertoma Leadership Award. Sharrick is also a longtime board member of the Nebraska Sertoma Hearing Aid Bank. In this role, he actively works to connect individuals in need with access to hearing healthcare they might not otherwise be able to afford. Outside of Sertoma, Sharrick has been married to fellow Sertoman Deb Sharrick since 1983. He is employed by Phoenix Casting and Machining and continues to be a dedicated leader both in his professional life and in the community. "I'm eager to serve on the Sertoma International Board because, as a hearing aid wearer and cochlear implant recipient, I know personally the importance of treating hearing loss, and I want the rest of the planet to be aware as well," Sharrick said. "Sertoma has the means and intent to accomplish these goals, and I want to be a larger part of that effort."
