Breaking Menstrual Taboo: Empowering Girls Through Menstrual Hygiene Education and Reusable Pad Train

By: Hope Spring

HEREFORD, U.K. - June 8, 2023 - PRLog -- Hope Spring Water, SuS Pads, and the Centre for Adolescent Health and Social Development have teamed up to host a menstrual hygiene and reusable pad training workshop at Junior Secondary School Kabusa, Abuja. The workshop was aimed at alleviating period poverty among young girls and providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge for proper menstrual hygiene.

The workshop was a huge success, with about 80 girls in attendance. The girls were given a step-by-step guide on how to make their own reusable pads and were also educated on menstruation and menstrual hygiene. They had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in meaningful discussions on the topic.

This project was possible With the help of Hope Spring Ecard https://ecards.hopespring.org.uk/, Not only were the girls in attendance, but boys were also part of the training, highlighting the importance of educating everyone on menstrual hygiene and its impact on society.

We would also like to emphasise that boys were included in the training, as we believe that it is important to reduce the stigma surrounding menstruation. By educating both boys and girls, we hope to break down the barriers and taboos associated with periods and promote a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.

The involvement of boys in the workshop was well received, and we hope to continue our efforts to educate and raise awareness to break down gender barriers in menstrual hygiene and health.

Bolu Olorunfemi said, "We believe that everyone, regardless of gender, should have access to proper menstrual hygiene resources, We are proud that we were able to provide this workshop and give these girls the tools they need to live a healthy and dignified life while alleviating period poverty."

The workshop was not only educational, but it was also fun. The girls were able to interact with each other and build community while learning about an important topic.

In conclusion, this workshop was an important step in addressing period poverty and promoting menstrual hygiene. We are grateful for the support of Hopespring Ecard and all those who helped make this event a success. We hope to continue our work promoting menstrual health and hygiene, and we urge everyone to join us in our mission to create a world where everyone has access to the resources they need to live a healthy and dignified life.

A call to action for supporters: We urge everyone to join us in our mission to alleviate period poverty and provide access to proper menstrual hygiene resources. Please visit our website for more information on how you can get involved (https://www.suspads.com/get-involved/) and support our cause.
