India Receives Largest Number of UK Study, Work, and Visit Visas

AHMEDABAD, India - Aug. 27, 2022 - PRLog -- According to the most recent UK immigration statistics released on Thursday, nearly 118,000 Indian students received a student visa in the year ending June 2022, representing an 89% increase over the previous year. According to a press release from the British High Commission in Delhi, India has surpassed China as the largest nationality receiving sponsored study visas in the UK.

The United Kingdom remains a popular destination for Indian tourists. Indian nationals received the highest proportion of visitor visas (28%). More than 258,000 Indian nationals received visit visas ending June 2022, representing a 630% increase over the previous year (when travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic were still in place).

Indian nationals also received nearly 103,000 work visas (including skilled and seasonal workers) in the year ending June 2022, a 148% increase over the previous year. Indian nationals are the most common nationality granted skilled worker visas, accounting for 46% of all such visas granted globally.
