MANHATTAN, N.Y. - July 8, 2022 - PRLog -- DKBmed, LLC, in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, has launched a special edition of its popular eViralHepatitis Review series. This special edition, consisting of a newsletter and paired podcast, will focus on the latest clinical guidance on managing hepatitis B infection, including a review of emerging therapies that may soon be available.

The program can be found at eviralhepatitisreview.org (https://elit.dkbmed.com/programs/4/volumes/8)

Worldwide, more than 257 million people live with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), primarily in Africa, Asia and parts of the Western Pacific. HBV also affects upwards of 2.4 million in the United States. Today, the diagnosis and management of CHB remains complex, and many gaps remain in patient care. Only 9% of people globally with CHB have received diagnoses, and only 5% of patients with diagnoses who are eligible for treatment actually receive therapy. The burden of missed diagnoses and undertreatment is staggering; researchers estimate that 800,000 deaths annually are attributable to hepatitis B.

"Treating hepatitis B can be challenging, even for specialists with years of training. In particular, it is difficult to decide when, exactly, to start or a stop a treatment," notes Jordan Feld, MD, MPH at the University of Toronto. "There is also uncertainty on how to treat patients who are diagnosed with another infection, such as HCV or HIV. In addition, not every clinician is fully knowledgeable about current and emerging medications, which target various stages of the HBV lifecycle. Resources that could close these educational gaps, among others, would be welcome."

The Special Edition of eViralHepatitis Review will also contain links to additional resources so that learners can continue their exploration of this topic.

Success of eViralHepatitis Review

This special edition comes after the success of the previous seven volumes, which are designed to increase clinicians' confidence and knowledge about diagnosing, treating, and managing viral hepatitis. 94% of participants rated the eViralHepatitis Review highly, with 88% of clinicians agreeing that their medical practice knowledge improved. To date, eViralHepatitis Review has more than 10,000 subscribers, and viewership continues to grow at a robust clip.
