Agassi Boys & Girls Club Hosts Meet And Greet For New UNLV Dignitaries

"Dr. Whitfield has been doing meet and greets elsewhere in town and we felt it was time to introduce him to the Westside community," said Stanley Washington, the organizer of the event. "As we prepare to celebrate Christmas, it is a great time to have these distinguished black men address our leaders at a facility that nurture's the success of our neighborhood's youth."
Dr. Whitfield began serving his 4-year contract on August 24. Prior to coming to UNLV, he served as provost and senior vice president of academic affairs and a professor of psychology at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.
Prior to his time at Wayne State University, Whitfield was vice provost for academic affairs at Duke University and held appointments as a professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, research professor in the Department of Geriatric Medicine at Duke University Medical Center and senior fellow at the Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. He was also the co-director of the Center on Biobehavioral Health Disparities Research.
Rickey McCurry officially began his new role on Oct 1. He is an accomplished advancement professional with a diverse background in development, alumni relations, and higher education administration.
McCurry came to UNLV from Northern Arizona University, where he served as vice president of Advancement and CEO of the NAU Foundation since 2018. He also previously served the University of Tennessee System and the University of Tennessee Foundation as president for Development and Alumni Affairs, president and CEO of the UT Foundation and executive director of the UT Alumni Association.
