Soumee Bhatt joins BankBazaar as General Counsel
Her appointment comes amidst the company's efforts to fast-track Contactless Finance
Soumee comes with a history of working in the banking and financial services sector in India, where she has played a pivotal role in the growth and transformational journey of some of the leading private banks in the country. She joins BankBazaar from RBL Bank, where she was the VP – Legal. Prior to this, she was part of the legal team at ICICI Bank and Axis Bank.
Commenting on the appointment, Adhil Shetty, Co-founder and CEO, BankBazaar.com, said, "BankBazaar's vision to provide contactless access to personal finance is now more relevant and urgent than ever. At this crucial juncture, where we explore greater collaborations with the government, regulators, and partners, we welcome Soumee to support us and guide our efforts in the right direction. Her presence will ensure that there is an open line of communication between all the stakeholders at all times".
Digital demand is increasing as consumers stay home and seek to minimise all physical touchpoints. At such a time, BankBazaar believes that enabling 100% digital access to credit products via Video KYC and CKYC has the potential to help everyone – customers, financial institutions, and intermediaries – and bridge the demand-supply gap in accessing financial products in the coming days.
Sharing her thoughts on her new role, Soumee Bhatt, General Counsel, BankBazaar, said: "I am thrilled to join BankBazaar. The role of General Counsel with one of the fastest growing Fintech company will certainly be full of challenges and prospects, especially as we navigate changing regulatory landscapes in the midst of a global pandemic. Crisis situations bring about opportunities and the best in leaders. With this thought in mind and leveraging on my extensive experience in handling complex legal issues in the financial sector, I aspire to build a best-in-class in-house legal function here at BankBazaar."
