| ![]() Local Insights Announces New PlansIn an effort to open sources public records, Local Insights has announced an updated free plan that gives all users access to detailed property information and a more affordable premium plan to enable better monitoring
By: Local Insights The updated free plan now includes access to all recorded documents, building permits, and one free property subscription. Previously, the details on these documents were only available to premium users. The property subscription is especially useful for tenants and homeowners alike as documents can be recorded without their knowledge. For a city like San Francisco, tenants can see if their landlord is planning major construction, which might mean an eviction. For owners, they have even greater risk with deed fraud, which is when someone steals your identity, sells your house to them, and then sells the house to an unsuspecting buyer. Often times, homeowners don't know about the deal until many months in the future. Local Insights' notifications won't solve the problem entirely, but they are real time and a good first line of defense. Founder, Mike Hardy, said, "This data is already in the public domain, but often times, impossible to work with. We feel this is a good first step as we aim to empower consumers with robust data so they can plan and react better." The premium plan also got a facelift. The plan still includes all of the features that were previously available but now costs only $9.99 per month.
