TUCSON, Ariz. - May 22, 2018 - PRLog -- Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Matthew A. Goldstein has returned to the Tucson office as counsel in the firm's special litigation and compliance practice group. Goldstein will split his time between the firm's Phoenix office and Washington, D.C. location as well.

Goldstein focuses his practice on international trade compliance and other regulatory matters, internal investigations, and federal litigation. He has advised federal agency components on international trade compliance and served as an industry representative on export control issues for the Department of State and Department of Commerce pursuant to executive branch appointments under the Federal Advisory Committee Act.

"Matt's knowledge and background in international trade compliance makes him an exciting addition to our firm's expanding international experience."

Goldstein assists clients in all aspects of international trade. This work includes assisting large and small companies with exports under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), arms brokering under the ITAR, support of Department of Defense Foreign Military Sales, development and implementation of international trade compliance programs, preparation and submission of export commodity jurisdiction and classification determinations, and internal company training. He has extensive experience in internal investigations, voluntary disclosures to government agencies and consent agreement management. This includes development of compliance metrics and interactive analytics tools for internal compliance assessments, audits, corrective actions and reports. Goldstein is also knowledgeable in litigating regulatory-based claims against the government under the Administrative Procedures Act and other laws, with published decisions in federal district and appellate courts.

Goldstein received his J.D. from the Sandra Day O'Connor College Law at Arizona State University, his M.A. from the Nelson Rockefeller School of Public Affairs at the State University of New York at Albany, and his B.A. from the University of Arizona. He frequently writes and is published on international trade topics. He also serves as a source of commentary on international trade and has been interviewed by National Public Radio, The New York Times, Wired Magazine and other news outlets.

Goldstein joins an international group that is well-seasoned in handling the needs of U.S.-based entities as their businesses and operations expand around the globe. The group's attorneys are recognized authorities in their practice areas and leaders in the international legal and business community. They are featured speakers at seminars around the world on subjects ranging from the impact of anti-corruption and FCPA laws, export controls and economic sanctions on exports, international taxation, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and dispute resolution to global product branding, distribution and franchising, and patent protection. Several attorneys are also actively involved in facilitating cross-border trade through their participation in various international business organizations and economic councils.
