CARSON CITY, Nev. - March 1, 2018 - PRLog -- The WNFC Coyotes FC opened up their season of competitive play in the Wild West Conference Cup Finals. The Coyotes came out of the match being named Champions in a 2-0 win to become the first ever Cup Champions! The team struck early in the match where Pablo Gervacio headed the ball in near post from a dead ball free kick. The free kick was taken near half field by Anthony Chinchilla that came in only the 2nd minute of the match. After many more attacks only ending in goal kicks or loss of possessions, the Coyotes had some high pressure that won the ball back inside Real San Jose defensive end. Nick Tunic took the ball down the right wing to the touchline to produce a slotted a pass into the top of the 6-yard box where Salifu Jatta calmly placed it into the right corner of the goal. The Coyotes were able to maintain the lead the remaining 80 minutes to preserve the shut out title.

Coach Ian Hill had this regarding his teams Championship victory, "Real San Jose is a quality side having been the 2017 National semi-finalists. We knew we were in for a challenge. I think we really saw a fast and Furious football on display in the first 20 minutes. We always set the goal of getting at least five shots on goal in the first 10 minutes and in this situation we were able to put two in the back of the net. Our press was working and that's why we were able to take an early lead."

Coach Joe Lilli, Head Development Coach, had some comments following the match, "Salifu showed what he can really do with his height, raw pace and quick feet! It was another solid defensive partnership from Will and Jake who have formed a great understanding. Kevin Duron came off the bench late in the game to make a case for a starting spot in next week's game in San Diego."

Salifu Jatta who was named Man of the Match by his teammates had this to say about the win,

"I think we played well and we just wanted to win more than they did. We were prepared and more confident in our abilities. We played as a team and we were dominant throughout the game."

The WNFC Coyotes FC season is picking up now so be sure to be on the lookout for more updates!
