Follow on Google News | Girl Power! Women Working in the Music Industry Conference Set For 2018Back for the 5th year, the Girl Power! Conference returns with a focus on entrepreneurship with their Girl Power! D.B.A.theme.
By: Fiero Flair The 2018 conference will be held on June 2nd, 2018, at the David Brower Center, 2150 Allston Way, in Berkeley, California. This year's conference is dubbed Girl Power! D.B.A. It will stress the importance of understanding the entrepreneurial nature of the music business, and empowering oneself with the skills, tools, and support to function optimally within this context. In the business world, D.B.A is an acronym signifying that an individual is doing business. Girl Power! D.B.A. will help women who work, or desire to work in the music industry, do business, or do more or better business, in the capacity that best caters to their expertise. Girl Power! D.B.A. is not just for entrepreneurs, independent contractors, and business owners in the music and entertainment industries; it is for anyone who works with or for them. The conference will address the most salient aspects of doing business for everyone from music artists, to employees, to CEOs. Changes/additions to this year's Girl Power! Conference include the retirement of speaker panels, the addition of one-on-one mentoring sessions, TED Talk style presentations by featured speakers on key topics, and a collaborative, group counseling session that dovetails with each presentation. "In our 5th year we have discovered what works...and doesn't work," says Kerry Fiero, lead producer of the Girl Power! Conference. "Getting rid of the panel format where organizers typically have 4 or 5 panelists is something we have contemplated for quite some time. Our new format is really going to feature our speakers, in essence providing us with multiple keynotes, after which they will hand discussions off to subject matter experts who will be seated at each table," Kerry says. "This will create grater interactivity, with attendees, and allow them to get questions answered topically, that relate to their individual situations." Girl Power! D.B.A. is seeking sponsorship and volunteers, and is open to cross promotional opportunities with companies and organizations who share the Girl Power! mission of female empowerment. Tickets go on sale February 1, 2018 on Eventbrite. Get comprehensive Girl Power! Conference updates and information at www.girlpowermusicconference.com End
