PRLog -- LEESBURG, V.A. - It's nothing new that cheerleaders aren't just about cheering on the sidelines anymore, but a local cheer team has taken their spirit fingers to a new level. The More Than Cheer All Star Cheerleading Program raised close to $500 dollars on Sunday for local Loudoun County citizens that have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with breast cancer. This cheer for a cause charity event was in collaboration with local Leesburg company, "Sweet and Sassy", a full service salon catering to the younger generation.
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, the cheerleaders choose show love and support for the cause by selling pink hair extensions for everyone to show their support. The More Than Cheer All Star Cheerleaders also held a traditional bake sale to raise funds, and collected voluntary donations at the event, which all added up to their impressive monetary donation.
The humbling experience gave these cheerleaders new perspective on weekend priorities. "I'm not sure there is a better way to spend a Sunday than with my cheer sisters raising money for a local family affected by breast cancer." Ashleigh Trudell from More Than Cheer's senior level all star team shared after participating in the event. Besides getting a valuable opportunity to bond as a team, these girls learned a valuable lesson about working together to give back to the community.
More Than Cheer is a company that offers a variety of classes in the areas of dance, cheer and tumbling. While increasing athletic ability is a goal, they also aim to create a sense of leadership, self-esteem and self confidence, giving girls the foundation they need to become empowered community leaders.
