Former NFL Cheerleader Opens 2nd Cheerleading Program in Sterling, Va
Former professional cheerleader opens 2nd location in Sterling, Va and aims to empower the next generation of community leaders

“I cheered from little league through college and then on a professional NFL team. I knew how valuable cheerleading could be to the positive development of kids everywhere. I gained teamwork skills, enhanced athletic ability and the confidence to command a crowd. I think those are valuable skills that benefit anyone who has the opportunity to gain them.”
The first More Than Cheer studio was opened in 2012 in Ashburn, VA but quickly filled with almost 100 students. Now, Brittany Rose, More Than Cheer- Loudoun co-owner and former NFL cheerleader has opened a More Than Cheer “gym” in Sterling, approximately twice the size of the Ashburn “studio”.
“We plan to be able to serve 300 students a week by the end of 2016. We are adding more classes, more seminars on leadership and confidence, morning classes, an after school program, and this summer we will be running 4 camps a week” said Rose.
Contrary to the image of the stereotypical cheerleader, More Than Cheer prides itself on aiming to create cheerleaders that are kind, helpful, smart, and strong. When asked about her company's primary goals in the community, company founder Brittany Rose said, “Our goal is to help change the cultures of schools and communities by empowering the young people who have traditionally been viewed as the leaders of their peers. Girls, in particular, are exposed to millions of media messages telling them they aren’t: pretty enough, skinny enough, or popular enough and if they speak their minds they may be perceived as bossy or overbearing. At More Than Cheer we want our girls to know that they are MORE than enough.”
They gym is now open and currently offering free trials for anyone interested in trying the program. Learn more about More Than Cheer at http://www.LoudounCheerleading.com.
