By: Goldcrest House During one consultation the wish to visit York Railways Museum and a trip to Flamingo Land was requested. A visit to America was also discussed, which unfortunately couldn't happen, but not deterred the next best thing, an American themed evening held at the house. Ralph Parish, registered manager at Goldcrest House says: "We have always consulted with our service users to understand and learn of their individual needs. However in this instance we have made the consultation part a fun group activity. It's one of the highlights in our monthly calendar and is thoroughly embraced by all service users eager to discuss their thoughts." Based on Boothferry Road Goldcrest House is a centre of excellence dedicated to addressing the individual needs of adults over 18 affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorder and learning difficulties. It provides residential care, supported living, long and short term respite care, day services and outreach to meet the varied needs of those who access the service 52 weeks a year; its aim is to be the UK's quality service of choice. http://www.goldcresthouse.org.uk End
