The Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery in Weybridge was judged to be outstanding in one of four areas when inspected in September 2017. The four categories include:
• Effectiveness of leadership and management - GOOD
• Quality of teaching, learning and assessment - GOOD
• Personal development, behaviour and welfare - OUTSTANDING
• Outcomes for children - GOOD
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's care and learning.
The Ofsted Report states: "Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding. Children are extremely motivated to learn in their choice of play and the nursery is full of happy and inquisitive children. The children behave exceptionally well."
"Children demonstrate exceptionally positive behaviour", which is testament to the outstanding care and education that they receive from the practitioners.
"Staff work in partnership with other professionals and parents to support children's individual needs." "Staff gather information from parents about children when they begin to attend, to effectively meet their care needs and continue to support children well, and help them to become independent with their personal needs."
Nikki McReynolds, nursery owner, says: "Monkey Puzzle Weybridge is a beautiful nursery. It is special in so many ways and offers care and support for almost 100 families in the Weybridge town and surrounding areas. We offer all-round excellent childcare and a fantastic range of Monkey Clubs. We compliment these clubs with a strong extra-curricular program, which includes yoga, Spanish, French, culture and dance to spark children's imagination and create daily wow moments.
We have high expectations of our children and support them every step of the way to help them reach their goals. Regardless of when a child joins, our mission is to make them confident little learners and get them ready for school, when it's time for their next big adventure."
The Ofsted Report says "Children aquire appropriate skills that prepare them well for the next stage in their learning, including going to school… they learn to concentrate, listen and follow instructions well. They are confident, independent and eager to complete tasks for themselves"
Nikki adds "Our practitioners are passionate about education, the children's and their own. They constantly evaluate their own practice to ensure that they are giving the best learning opportunities and care to all the little ones. The inspector acknowledged that staff attend a wide range of training as part of their continuous development.
We have strong bonds with our parents and families, and see them as an extended part of our nursery. We are here to support them as much as the children and hopefully we make their daily lives easier!"
Brad Dovey, a parent since November 2014 says "This Ofsted grading is absolutely well-deserved. The staff give 110% to the children each day, in our eyes they are all outstanding. They have helped make our child into the lovely little boy that he is, very confident and outgoing. He recently won 'The Kindness Club Award' for being kind and helpful to others,– this is something he picked up at Monkey Puzzle and practices outside the nursery, and we thank them for that."
Monkey Puzzle Weybridge opened in February 2014 and caters for children aged three months to five years.
