Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Communication has announced its plans to roll out an attractive mobile data scheme which promises to offer 1 GB worth of 4G data to subscribers old and new. This move is sure to give tough competition to established players like Jio, and marks as a statement of intent by RCom.
Packaged as a bundle offer, the scheme is priced at Rs.500 per month for existing subscribers, and will include 1 GB 4G data for not just smartphones but all smart devices. Additionally, new customers can also avail the offer in the form of a full-fledged package which includes a Reliance data card and a Reliance prepaid 4G sim card. The total cost of the package has been listed as Rs.5199.
The biggest attraction of the package deal, however, is the Wi-Fi dongle, named as the WiPod dongle, which will be included free of cost, despite costing a whopping Rs.3200. It is powered by a Qualcomm MDM9307 chipset that guarantees true 4G speeds, video and HD voice calls even on a 2G or 3G device. The battery life of the dongle is sourced from a 2300 mAH battery, and runs up to 5 hours on single charge upon exhaustive usage. One can experience download speeds of 150 Mbps, and can also utilize the dongle's 32 GB memory capacity.
