Silver Lining Oris Adds A Stunning Silver Dial To Its Iconic Divers Sixty-Five Collection

Dec. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- The vintage-inspired Oris Divers Sixty-Five has captured the watch-buying public's imagination in the short time since it was launched last year. Now, Oris has added a silver dial version to the hugely successful collection, mirroring the shimmering light reflections off the ocean surface.

The Divers Sixty-Five collection was first revived in 2015, picking up on a diver's watch design Oris first introduced in 1965. During the 1960s, many significant improvements were made to underwater diving apparatus by the likes of Jacques Cousteau, Hans Hass and Christian J. Lambertsen. Just as important were the reliable underwater timing instruments they used to keep track of dive times as they ventured into the silent world. Oris was one of the decade's pioneering diver's watch manufacturers.

The revival watch bears many hallmarks of the 1960s original. From its slim-line case and bezel to its trapezoid date window, the Divers Sixty-Five is a faithful tribute to the innovations of the decade.

Not that it's an old-school watch – far from it. Oris has updated the materials and given it a modern, high-performance automatic movement, in keeping with the company's exacting 21st century industrial watchmaking standards. Its 42mm case is made of high-grade stainless steel; the unidirectional bezel has a lightweight black aluminium inlay; the bubble-curved glass is made of sapphire crystal and has an anti-reflective coating on the inside; and the hands and hour markers are filled with Super- LumiNova® in place of the tritium used in the 1960s.

That original 1960s collection included a silver-dialled version, a colour Oris has now returned to, adding a touch of coastal glamour to the Divers Sixty-Five's robust, utilitarian aesthetic.

This latest Divers Sixty-Five comes with three strap and bracelet options. The black rubber strap with its weave effect is lifted from the 1960s; the brushed stainless steel bracelet is styled like its 1960s forebear, including the round-headed pins that hold the links together; and the distressed vintage leather strap gives it a versatile quality that proves the watch is at home on land as at sea.

Completing the vintage look is the engraved shield on the case back, an historic Oris emblem from the 1960s.

The new Oris Divers Sixty-Five with a silver dial gives a sleek, almost louche appeal to one of the watch industry's most talked about diver's watches of the last two years. It's available now, priced CHF 1,900 on a strap and CHF 2,100 on a bracelet.
