Mohammad Al Gergawi meets Tim Cook to discuss UAE's e-transformation
By: Mohammad Al Gergawi
The pointers for discussions were the prospects for cooperation on the development of advanced educational applications and ways to develop an integrated UAE model that can be used by countries across the globe for a better education experience.
At the end of the meeting, Al Gergawi said that Apple has shown profound interest in the UAE's e-transformation and shift towards smart education, smart cities and mobile services. He further added, ''The UAE integrated model on using technology in all sectors of life is a key part of the philosophy of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to create a different lifestyle in the UAE with respect to services and educational sectors, and health and economic development''.
Another highlight of the meeting was Apple's interest in the best M-Government service award that was initiated by Shaikh Mohammed in 2013.
UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Al Gergawi said that the spirit of creativity and innovation is a common denominator for the UAE and Apple Inc. He further added that UAE has set an example through rapid development and keeping up with the technology that simplifies the lives of people and provides them a better user experience.
Expressing his views on e-transformation, Al Gergawi said that just like the UAE, Apple too is a model of technical innovation and technological development, and thus their collaboration can set a great example of integration between technical and government sectors. He further added, "The UAE leadership's directives are clearly aligned toward establishing partnerships with global organisations, and the strategic partnership with Apple is in line with the directives of Shaikh Mohammed".
