ABOUT Executive Chef Abraham Isseks

Chef Abraham Isseks was raised in the Hudson Valley, NY just outside of Manhattan, NYC.  At a young age he began his culinary journey, starting in the kitchen of his family restaurant, Tony Boffa's, in Middletown, NY, a staple in the community for over 50 years.

Moving up the ranks from dishwasher to prep cook to eventually line cook, Isseks grasped the fundamentals of a full service kitchen by the age of 18.  After gaining a strong grasp of food preparation and menu development, he moved to the front of the house and started studying the art of proper dining room service.  At 18, Abraham was trained in fine dining in the world class resort Mohonk Mountian House. Here, he learned the proper steps of formal service for dining and banquets.  He also studied the art of preparing elegant cuisine while working with professional chefs from around the world.

Recently, Abraham relocated to Los Angeles California where he is heading up a new project which includes a 5-star luxury cinema, a full service movie theater, and a restaurant and bar.  He has created a new American cuisine menu and tequila bar concept that is affordable and tasty which will be served during the movies and in the restaurant. This is a concept that the community of Glendale is lacking and will be embraced.

ABOUT the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

The Mission of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community.

To fulfill our mission, we source and acquire food and other products and distribute them to needy people through charitable agencies or directly through programs; conduct hunger education and awareness campaigns and advocate for public policies that alleviate hunger; and energize the community to get involved and support hunger relief.

Our Vision is that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles.

Since 1973, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has distributed more than 1 billion pounds of food. It provides food to 320,000 people every month and in 2015 we distributed 52 million meals–that's more than 62 million pounds of food. Twenty percent of that food is fresh produce.

The Food Bank collects food from hundreds of resources, which – with the help of 27,000 volunteers annually – it distributes through a network of more than 600 partner agencies.  Ninety-seven percent of revenue raised goes directly to programs. Our efficiency and effectiveness led the LA Business Journal to name the Food Bank as the "Nonprofit Organization of the Year" among large local organizations in 2013.
