BERLIN - Oct. 27, 2016 - PRLog -- The Information Security Forum (ISF), a global, independent information security body considered the world's leading authority on cyber security and information risk management, held its Annual World Congress October 22-25, 2016, in Berlin, Germany. The event, which featured a series of keynote presentations, workshops and networking sessions from the world's foremost international security experts, hosted nearly 1,000 attendees who discussed the key challenges and opportunities that ISF member companies and businesses will face in 2017. Topics of focus included: cyber security, data privacy in the cloud, supply chain information risk management, regulation and legislation, securing industrial controls systems, securing the Internet of Things (IoT), protecting smart cities and the continuing defense of mobile devices in the workplace.

"Each year, our World Congress provides world-renowned international security professionals the occasion to discuss and find resolutions to today's most significant security challenges," said Steve Durbin, Managing Director of the ISF. "Legislation, the internet of things and the shift in the importance of addressing the human factor in any security strategy and program were clear issues that attendees were keen to discuss along with the increasing dependence that all organizations have on cyber enabled business. This places a responsibility across the organization, from the board of directors down to ensure that the appropriate levels of security are being established and maintained to protect mission critical information."

The ISF World Congress offers attendees the opportunity to interact and build peer-to-peer relationships with senior, global decision-makers and share in the ISF experience. Delegates also have the opportunity to learn how ISF deliverables can be applied in practice through a series of sessions hosted throughout the event. As in previous years, the ISF World congress included an extensive, collaborative breakout program, led by ISF member organizations, which provided attendees with a broader view of the experiences of others on the most pressing security issues they are facing today.

This year's event included an all-encompassing, collaborative breakout program which was led by Master of Ceremonies, and BBC Diplomatic and Royal Correspondent, Nicholas Witchell. Keynote sessions were presented by the following:

·         Bruce Schneier, Renowned Security Technologist

·         Keren Elazari, Hacker, Turned Digital Security Expert

·         Mikko Hypponen, Cyber War Veteran

·         Konstantinos Karagiannis, Chief Technology Officer for Security Consulting in BT Americas

"Organizations recognize the sizable benefits the ISF brings to both our member companies, and the industry as a whole, and our twenty-seventh annual event was once again a great success," continued Durbin. "We are already looking forward to next year's gathering of international security industry experts in Cannes."
