Gene Blake of Rhett Women's Center Named Charleston's Choice Finalist

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Sept. 30, 2016 - PRLog -- The voters of Charleston have spoken and Gene Blake, NP of Rhett Women's Center has been named Finalist in the Midwife category for the Post and Courier's Charleston Choice contest.   Voters were asked to nominate healthcare professionals and then vote on a narrowed selection.    Blake was the only fnalist selected in her category!

Gene Blake, NP helps patients with hormone therapy, gynecology as well as hosts metabolism reset seminars.   Gene has been caring for women since 2004 when she started as a labor and delivery nurse. She then graduated from MUSC's Certified Nurse Midwifery program with a Masters in nursing in 2007. Since graduating, she has been serving her patients as a certified Nurse Midwife, caring for women through pregnancy, labor, and delivery, as well as meeting their gynecological needs.

As a nurse practitioner with RWC, Gene has shifted her focus to a more holistic care model with the goal of caring for women throughout their lifespan. Through her years of experience, she has learned that getting to know her patients on a personal level is the key to providing individualized care that meets each patient's specific needs. Gene has a special interest in bioidentical hormone replacement for management of symptoms and disease prevention, adolescent care, contraception, and weight management.

Gene grew up in Shelby, N.C. She earned her undergraduate degree from Furman University where she played Division I collegiate tennis. She lives in Mt. Pleasant with her husband (and high school sweetheart), Rusty. They have three children, Holman, Geni, and Nora. Outside of work, Gene enjoys spending time with her family, which involves lots of sports practices, games, church and school activities, biking, reading, and playing at the beach. She is an avid runner and loves the outdoors.

Dr. Rhett recruited Gene to come work for him in 2014, and RWC feels privileged to have her as part of the team.   Rhett Women's Center is dedicated to improving the quality of life for women of all ages from adolescence to menopause.
