"Our partnerships within the community are a large part of what has allowed this organization to become what it has in such a short period of time," remarked President and Co-Founder Ryan King. "Receiving this recognition from that same community assures us that we are making a difference and motivates us to continue doing so." Since their establishment in early 2012, Face Off With Cancer has coordinated several hockey tournaments, fundraisers and events to support various local cancer support organizations and multiple families affected by the disease. As an all-volunteer organization, they rely heavily on the contributions of the local hockey and business communities to support their mission. In addition to the award, Face Off With Cancer was presented with Certificates of Recognition from the California State Legislature, the 27th State Senate District, the 26th State Congressional District, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors and the Moorpark City Council. The organization has started preparations for their annual flagship fundraising event, a 2-day long ice hockey tournament at Iceoplex Simi Valley on August 27-28, 2016, and are seeking volunteers and sponsors of all kinds.
