HAY BALING WIRE SCULPTURE

ON DISPLAY AT CITY HALL

Question:  He makes Fine Art Sculpture out of WHAT?

Answer: A twisted pile of discarded hay baling wire and a scattering of old bed springs; that's what!  No one else in the World uses this environmentally friendly and artistically pioneering technique to obtain such realistic detail in a sculpture.[1]

In its debut art competition this welded-steel sculpture won First Prize at the juried Third Annual Recycle Festival, Fashion Show and Art Exhibition, hosted by the WHAM Organization in Arizona, USA, from April 2 through April 29, 2016. To acknowledge the support and opportunities which the City of Surprise, Arizona, USA, provides to artists on a national basis, Arizona artist Jack Price has loaned the City his life-sized sculpture entitled Reach of the Bald Eagle, which is now on public display at City Hall.  Amazing, the sculpture may be, but Jack's technique is utterly astounding.

This sculpture took Jack three months to create, utilizing only a gas welding torch, a discarded pile of hay baling wire, and old bed springs gathered from a family ranching property.  Each large feather is constructed with approximately 500 small pieces of baling wire added with one thousand welds.
