SCPA Presents: The ABC's and 123's of CBT for Anxiety!

Simon Rego, Psy.D., ABPP, ACT will present a workshop on how to recognize and treat anxiety disorders with the use of CBT protocols.

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. - April 5, 2016 - PRLog -- Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older (18% of U.S. population). As a number of evidence-based treatment protocols have been developed to treat these disorders, it can be challenging for therapists to invest the time, effort and cost entailed in learning how to administer each separately. This presentation will provide participants with the insights and tools necessary for applying the cognitive behavioral principles that form the common foundation of these various protocols. Attendees will gain an understanding of the mechanisms that maintain these disorders as well as the common core ingredients that are typically included in CBT protocols for anxiety disorders.

The Presenter, Simon A. Rego, PsyD, ABPP, ACT, is Director of Psychology Training and the Cognitive Behavior Therapy Training Program at Montefiore Medical Center and Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Cognitive Behavioral Psychology, a Fellow of both the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and the American Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology, and is Certified as a Cognitive Therapy Trainer/Consultant by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Rego has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters and is currently completing books on the treatment of OCD and Panic Disorder. He is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences and also works with many national media outlets to educate the public about the latest mental health news using a simple, non-sensationalized approach.
