Nov. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Krista Jordan, junior entrepreneurship major and start-up mentor for the Center of Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation at Kent State University, is making a difference by donating to cancer research.

Jordan is the chief executive officer and founder of Flight 4 the Cure, a handmade accessory line launched in Jan. 2013. Flight 4 the Cure was started in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, a post-secondary education program. Krista further developed her business in Kent State’s College of Business Administration Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Ice House courses.

"Krista Jordan is a passionate and successful entrepreneur who brings a positive mindset to everything she does,” said Marketing and Entrepreneurship Instructor Craig Zamary. “She always works hard to execute her ideas and takes the time to help and mentor other aspiring entrepreneurs with startup companies.”

The Flight 4 the Cure accessory line consists of handmade and crocheted items such as scarves and bracelets. Ten percent of each sale is donated back to the University Hospital Siedman Cancer Center and the Cleveland Clinic for cancer research.

“Flight 4 the Cure products are more than just accessories,” said Jordan. “Each represents a story of cancer survival; a flight, a roller coaster ride, a journey.”

Krista was inspired to fund cancer research after losing her father, Timothy Jordan, to cancer. He began his battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) a year and a half after Krista was born. Shortly after his diagnosis, the family decided to seek remission in a 100 day treatment program in Minnesota, in hope that at the end of treatment he would be in remission. On the 98th day, doctors discovered his illness had spread to his brain. Krista’s parents flew back to Wellington, Ohio, where family and friends gathered to welcome her father home. Sadly, Mr. Jordan passed away shortly after his arrival.

Through Krista’s drive to establish Flight 4 the Cure, she discovered others with similar stories. She is now dedicated to not only share her father’s battle with cancer, but others’ experiences too.
