Students Helping Homeless Pets of Longmont and Firestone, Announces Family Pet Hospital

Imagine Charter School at Firestone and Family Pet Hospital, an animal hospital in Longmont, CO, are taking donations to help Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement (HOPE) provide for local homeless pets.

LONGMONT, Colo. - Nov. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Students from Imagine Charter School at Firestone believe the pets of the local homeless community need some help.  The middle school students of Imagine Charter School at Firestone’s Core Virtues in Action class determined recently that “one of the unmet needs of [their] community [is] to provide for the animals who live with the homeless.”  Consequently, these students are forming a partnership with Family Pet Hospital, a veterinary animal hospital in Longmont, to accept donations to fulfill this need.

The students will organize the donations into packages which will be distributed to the animals’ human companions.  Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement (HOPE), an organization conducting outreach to the homeless, will distribute the items along with the food items they already provide to homeless people in the community.

The Core Virtues in Action students encourage the community to donate items for this cause because doing so may have profound effects not only for the animals, but also for their homeless caretakers.  “These animals are loved dearly and provide stability and companionship that is vital to the physical well-being of their human companions,” say the students.  By providing for the animals, their human companions are placed in a better position to overcome obstacles and gain self-sufficiency.

Members of the Firestone and Longmont, Colorado communities who wish to participate are encouraged to drop off items at Imagine Charter School at Firestone in Firestone, Colorado, or Family Pet Hospital, in Longmont, Colorado until December 18, 2015.  The items most needed are canned dog food with pop-top lids, dog treats, collars, leashes, brushes, nail clippers, and dog toys.  Other small portable items will also be collected including bowls, canned cat food with pop-top lids, cat treats, plastic spoons, snack-sized baggies, and cloth or paper sacks.

The students at Imagine Charter School at Firestone, along with Family Pet Hospital, and H.O.P.E., would like interested members of the community to participate in this excellent opportunity to provide for the pets of local homeless people.  Donations can be made at Family Pet Hospital in Longmont (815 East 17th Avenue, Unit C-2, Longmont, CO), or at Imagine Charter School at Firestone (5753 Twilight Avenue, Firestone, CO).
