By: Samsung “We are very excited to be providing users with an improved computing experience through the new 850 EVO SSD product range,” says Mike van Lier, Divisional Head of the Enterprise Business Division (EBD) at Samsung Electronics SA. “Samsung will continue to introduce various V-NAND-based SSDs in a variety of form factors, while accelerating the growth of the global SSD market.” The Samsung 850 PRO SSD, launched last year, uses 2-bit 3D V-NAND for professional use in high-end client PCs as well as in small- and medium-sized enterprise servers. However, the newly launched 850 EVO is built with 3-bit 3D V-NAND technology. This makes it more suitable for general consumer application in devices such as notebooks and gaming PCs. With the introduction of the 850 EVO, Samsung promotes the next generation of its consumer SSD product line-up with new V-NAND-based SSDs. The new series comes in 120GB, 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacity options and boasts sequential read speeds of up to 540 megabytes per second (MB/s) and write speeds of up to 520 MB/s. With Samsung’s TurboWrite technology, the 1TB version offers random write speeds of up to 90K Input/Output (http://en.wikipedia.org/ Van Lier concludes: “With an increase in the consumer adoption of SSDs, Samsung will continue to deliver advanced, reliable technology to the market. This latest confirms our competitiveness in this market.” For more information, please visit www.samsung.com/ End
