Union Baptist Church Gives $5,000 Stocking Stuffer to Local Nonprofit Minding Our Business

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Dec. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Local nonprofit Minding Our Business (MOB), which has been recognized as one of the premier youth entrepreneurship programs in the nation, recently received $5,000 in donations as a result of Union Baptist Church’s December 7^th Christmas Charity Stocking, a special event held annually at the Trenton church’s Candlelight Communion service.

Having coached and mentored more than 2,500 Trenton-area students on starting and running their own businesses, MOB currently operates an after-school service learning program for Trenton middle school students; a summer program at Rider University for low-income middle school students; and an advanced program providing business coaching to alumni seeking additional guidance.Each program emphasizes entrepreneurship training, as well as math, reading, communication and life skills.

Tracey D. Syphax, MOB Chairman of the Board, states "Minding Our Business humbly accepts the gifts bestowed upon us during this holiday season by the Union Baptist Church, a steadfast supporter of our efforts to develop Trenton youth through entrepreneurship.”

Union Baptist Church Pastor Simeon Spencer states, “Over the years UBC has been blessed to let the light shine by contributing funds approaching $25,000 to local and regional charitable and nonprofit organizations. Our Christmas Stocking has especially benefited organizations serving a range of needs including hunger, battered women, women in treatment for cancer and transitional housing for ex-offenders. I can’t think of a more deserving organization this year than MOB. It has an outstanding track record of equipping the youth of Trenton with entrepreneurial skills, and our church was blessed to support MOB’s efforts to build a ‘bridge to the future’ for local youth.”
