New York City Pop-Up Series Aims to Raise the Standard for Pop-Up Restaurants

Project Sāra looks to add an element of adventure — and class — to its multi-course pop-up dining series.

NEW YORK - Aug. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- “Customers ordering omakase style expect the chef to be innovative and surprising in the selection of dishes, and the meal can be likened to an artistic performance by the chef.” — Wikipedia.

In the UK, especially in London, pop-up restaurants and supper clubs have become more than  mainstream players among dining options.  They have become pace setters, providing cuisine and settings that lend a bit of adventure to eating out.  And while in the United States pop-up restaurants and shops are also rapidly growing in popularity, they haven’t yet achieved the same level of eclectic, impromptu quality that has become emblematic of many London pop-ups.

An example of a pop-up series that is trying to do just that in the U.S. is Project Sāra, which is bringing a unique culinary slant — omakase style — to the New York culinary scene. To Project Sāra, the dining experiment in which they are engaged is far more than the food one eats.  Its main ingredients include elegance and spontaneity, with a dash of mystery thrown in.

Project Sāra partners with emerging stellar chefs to bring a host of different styles to its pop-up series.  It doesn’t divulge the menu for the evening.  Rather, it exposes many of the ingredients that will be used in its preparation, but leaves it up to the creativity of the chef to conjure up what eventually is served in the greatly-anticipated dinner.  It does so in an upscale, white cloth setting, with an intimate crowd of 12 people, two to a table, and impeccable service.  In total, Project Sāra’s goal is to provide a one-of-a-kind dining experience of the highest caliber.

Jeremy Baras, an expert on the pop-up industry and the founder of PopUp Republic, had this to say about the Project Sāra pop-up series:  “Pop-ups are already wildly popular in this country — we’ve experienced thousands of pop-up listings on our pop-up directory and every month we hit new highs in page views and followers.  It’s impresarios such as those who are creating the Project Sāra experience that keep raising the pop-up bar.  Diners and shoppers love pop-ups, and Project Sāra is clearly a trendsetter in this new world of pop-up dining.”

The next Project Sāra pop-up dinner is scheduled to take place on September 7th in an intimate studio cafe in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.  For a description of the event and contact information, please visit https://www.popuprepublic.com/greater-new-york-city-pop-up-restaurants/8136-project-sara-a-european-american-upscale-dining-with-simplicity.html.
