Chula Vista’s Otay Ranch Town Center to Host Food Truck Festival with Real International Flavor

Event this Saturday July 18th to feature ethnic cuisine along with good ol’ American Standbys

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - July 14, 2015 - PRLog -- This Saturday, July 18th, Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista plays host to a specially-curated food truck festival, showcasing the multi-ethnic culinary cultures that contribute so wonderfully to greater San Diego’s internationally-recognized dining scene.  The Otay Ranch Food Truck Festival is being organized by PopUp Republic, a Chicago-based pop-up event marketer that is arranging a series of food truck festivals at malls across the United States.

“Food is the great unifier across the globe, and food truck festivals are fast becoming one of the hottest public dining attractions in the country,” said Jeremy Baras, PopUp Republic’s CEO.  “By holding them at some of the most upscale and beautiful mall settings in the country, it is an ideal match —shoppers love to take a few minutes off of their planned shopping itineraries to refresh themselves by sampling the delicious, yet inexpensive food truck offerings.  And the food trucks have a built-in clientele of thousands of hungry shoppers!” Baras continued.

The trucks that were invited to participate in the Otay Ranch food truck festival represent six totally different dining categories.  “We wanted to satisfy the tastes of every conceivable palate, adults to kids, sophisticated to basic,” said Baras.  The food trucks that will be encamping at Otay Ranch from 12 to 4 pm are:

God Save the Cuisine - English-inspired menu (e.g., authentic British Fish & Chips)

Tabe BBQ - Japanese

Chubby’s - Burgers

Devilicious - Gourmet sandwiches

Mangia Mangia - Italian

Greengo Grilled Cheese - a food truck standard

Since it opened in October 2006, the Otay Ranch Town Center has become far more than a “typical” shopping mall.  Rather, it prides itself on being a lifestyle center, featuring curated events like fashion shows, this month’s fun Barnes & Noble “Get Pop-Cultured” series, and a regular farmers market every Tuesday.  Add to that a children’s chalk garden and a dog park, and there is something for every member of the family — even the extended family canine variety.

Still, it is the 100+ stores that are Otay’s main attractions, something that the food trucks not only acknowledge, but appreciate.  “Food truck owners are entrepreneurs and artisans in their own right,” according to Baras, “and it makes a lot of sense to couple their lovingly-made food creations with the merchandise offered by other designers and merchants,” Baras said.

The Otay Ranch Food Truck Festival takes place Saturday, July 18th, from 12 pm to 4 pm.  For more information, visit https://www.popuprepublic.com/pur-events/otay-ranch-food-truck-festival.html or contact info@popuprepublic.com.
