Health Care Management China (HCMC) Present at HOSCON Asia, 4th annual Hospital Construction Summit

April 14, 2014 - PRLog -- March 28-29, 2014 in Beijing at the University of Civil Engineering and Architecture over 1000 delegates gathered over two days for the 4th annual Hospital Construction (HOSCON) Summit.  The program focused on the fast-growing health care market in China and explored opportunities and challenges in the medical sector in the Mainland.

Derek Muhs, Vice Chairman and Co-Founder of HCMC, was invited to participate in a panel discussion entitled, "The Humanization of Health Care Service in China".  The panel was moderated by Mr Shimin Zhang, the Director of the Development and Planning Division of Beijing's Health and Family Planning Commission. He focused the discussion on how medical centers can integrate a human element into the service experience and into the design of each medical center and hospital facility.

Other panelists included:  Sherwood Yang, President Beijing Puhua Hospital - Asia Pacific Medical Group (APMG); Rene Henri Arnaud, Founder and Director of DPLG Architect Studio; and Shimin Fan, President of Beijing's Health and Family Planning Commission.

"We can have the most spectacular hospital with the latest equipment and cutting edge technology; however, if we do not have medical care that is focused on the patient with a human touch, then we will not satisfy the needs of the patient",  commented Derek Muhs. The lively and interactive panel agreed that much progress has been made in the service standards for health care in China. However they also commented on vast improvements that still need to be made in order to achieve the level and standard of service available in North America and Europe.

Other topics discussed in the summit were: Quality Control for Hospital Construction; How to Integrate Hospital Management Medical Service and Architectural Design; and A Comparative Look at the USA and China Health Care Markets.

Notable guests included:  Executive Chairman Xun Mao of Peking University Peoples Hospital and Xun MAO-VP-Peking University People's Hospital.  The conference featured national & international television and proved to be a very insightful and educational opportunity for its participants.

Roxanne Andrieux, Advisor to the HCMC Board of Directors observed: "This conference demonstrates the focus of the Chinese government on improving health care facilities nationally. There are many new projects being developed and this will make it much easier for international operators to come into China; HCMC is well-positioned to play a major part in hospital development in the Mainland".
