Don’t forget to update boiler breakdown cover account when moving house, 247 Home Rescue warns

March 17, 2014 - PRLog -- People must not forget to change their boiler breakdown cover account details when moving house, 247 Home Rescue has argued.

Kevin Burke, marketing consultant for the boiler cover, appliance cover and home emergency cover specialists, said: “There aren’t many things as stressful as moving house, and it’s very hard to remember all the things you have to do.

“You might remember to buy some milk and coffee while forgetting to do more important things, like change insurance, bank and building society account details.

“Take some time to plan out a house move to avoid problems in the long-term”.

When moving house:

-          Transfer boiler breakdown cover and insurance policies, not forgetting your car insurance

-          Arrange a mail redirection service with the Royal Mail

-          Tell the bank about your new address

-          Take down the meter readings from your gas, electricity and water meters

-          Tell the DVLA about the move and request an updated drivers’ license

-          Sign up for the electoral roll in your new address

-          Transfer entertainment services, such as your TV license, internet, and digital television services

-          Try to store frozen food in a friend’s house in the days before the move

After struggling for many years, the housebuilding market has picked up, with Office for National Statistics data showing the value of new private housing orders in the last quarter of 2013 has reached its highest point since the third quarter of 2007, before the global financial crisis.

The rising demand for new houses has not subdued the rental market, with Halifax recently discovering that the average cost of renting a home has risen by 18% in the last four years to reach £769 a month.
