247 Home Rescue comments on success of prescription boiler scheme in Sunderland

SUNDERLAND, U.K. - Dec. 30, 2014 - PRLog -- The prescription boiler scheme in Sunderland has been a success.

The scheme provided energy efficient home improvments to people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, and cut the number of GP appointments by 28% and the number of outpatient appointments by 33%.

Commenting, Kevin Burke, spokesperson for boiler cover specialists 247 Home Rescue, said:

"It is now clear that energy efficiency can not only cut people's utility bills, but can also improve their health and reduce some of the burdens faced by the NHS.

"We anticipated that the 'boiler on prescription' scheme would be a big success, and our predictions have come true.

"Clinical commissioning groups and other healthcare organisations need to take the results of this trial seriously and consider implementing similar schemes in their own areas."
