The main aim of this course is to give delegates the confidence to gain a clear appreciation of the steps required to design pumping systems that minimize the cost of ownership (Life Cycle Cost) while meeting all the requirements of the intended process. Modern technology is moving at a blistering pace and the world pumps is part of the change. Computer software can now easily model pipework systems, select pumps, calculate energy losses (in individual pipes!) and draw up bills of communication within the organization and with clients. In the wrong hands they can be generators of costly mistakes. The workshop will include pipe sizing calculations, fluid properties, suction and delivery piping system, system resistance curve, system perspective of Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH) available, cause and effect in pumping systems, pump types, centrifugal pumps and published performance data and pump selection, impeller diameter changes, speed variation in centrifugal pumps, parallel pumping systems, series operation, energy calculations, conducting an energy audit, Computer Aided Design for pumping systems, electrical aspects of pumping systems, shaft sealing arrangements, commissioning and troubleshooting centrifugal pumps and calculation of a pumping system’s Life Cycle Cost (LCC). The coach, John Tonkin has a style of practical and straight forward with the ultimate programme objective being positive behavior change.
