Chocolate Bartending Competition mixes it up for local hunger relief

Feb. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Four years and thousands of dollars to help feed Southern Ocean County families, the Chocolate Bartending Competition off at 8 pm on Wednesday Feb 12 at TGI Fridays in Manahawkin. The night begins with WJRZ TJ Bryan mixing signature chocolate drinks and prizes beginning at 6pm. WJRZ promo crew will be on hand with Plunk for Junk to benefit food pantries and prize wheel. The night continues on with a full line up of TG I Friday Competitive Bartenders who will be judged by flair, creativity and service by guest judges Dan Taylor, President of the Southern Ocean County Community Foundation and Lori Pepenella of the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce.

Along with the contestants, TGI Friday’s guest DJ will be keeping the room alive, along with Valentine’s Photo Booth and other surprises. The audience can take part in the bidding for the bartender’s drinks along with a list of prizes 3 lift tickets to Shawnee Mountain/Camelback or Mountain Creek, tickets to see Broadway shows Stomp and Buyer and Cellar along with local business giveaways, man cave swag and gift certificates.

Last year’s bartending competition raised $2500, which was presented to the Southern Ocean County Community Foundation during their Taste of Southern Ocean County Hunger Relief Dinner and Auction. A night made possible by local chefs and business community, the foundation is planning their 19th Taste Dinner “An Evening in Venice” on April 9 at Sea Oaks Country Club in Little Egg Harbor. To date the foundation has risen over $470,000 to directly benefit seven food banks within Southern Ocean County.
