Modus Operandi’s Rick McNeight Given Lifetime Achievement in Technology Award

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Oct. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Modus Operandi president Rick McNeight was presented the Lifetime Achievement in Technology Award and Congressional Medal of Merit recently as part of the TechNovation Awards banquet, sponsored by the Melbourne Regional Chamber of East Central Florida.

The award is presented to an individual whose impact, influence and work within the technology community has resulted in significant success of the organization in which the individual has been associated, and who has also benefited the regional technology community as a whole.

The medals given to Mr. McNeight were provided by U.S. Congressman Bill Posey.

Mr. McNeight has spent his entire career leading cutting-edge high-tech companies aimed at solving critical challenges for many government and commercial organizations.  He is currently the president and board member for Modus Operandi, a Melbourne, Florida based company specializing in big data analytics, data fusion and semantic search of massive data sources serving the U.S. military and the U.S. intelligence agencies.  The company’s work enables military and intelligence analysts to find the right needle in the right haystack, in order to save lives, prevent adversarial activities, and dramatically reduce the threats faced by allied forces around the world.

Prior to joining Modus Operandi, Mr. McNeight was president of Federal Systems LLC, which he founded in 2006.  Federal Systems is a mid-tier technology investment company serving the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, and federal civilian agencies.

In 1982, Mr. McNeight founded Paravant Inc., in Satellite Beach, FL, which in over 20 years became the worldwide leader in the design and production of rugged computers for military tracked and wheeled vehicles and high speed processing systems for the Intelligence Community.  He oversaw Paravant's IPO in 1996, (PVAT-NASDAQ), subsequent acquisition of five companies, and later the sale of Paravant to DRS Technologies (DRS-NYSE) in 2002.  Mr. McNeight continued on as president, running DRS Tactical Systems Strategic Business Unit until 2006.

This award is the latest in a long line of honors that Mr. McNeight has received in the past for his work in the tech and business sectors.  They include:
•    2006 Entrepreneur of the Year by Founder’s Forum & EDC Florida’s Space Coast
•    Dale Carnegie International Leadership Award in 2006 for most outstanding company leader in North America
•    Best Place to Work in Brevard County four years running (2003 - 2006)
•    Governor’s Leadership Award in 2001 for best company in Florida Region 9
•    2001 Florida Today Volunteer Recognition “Business of the Year”
•    1988 Governor’s Award for the Best New Product in the state of Florida

Mr. McNeight holds a bachelor’s of science degree from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in Applied Science and Engineering and a master’s in science engineering degree from the University of Michigan in Computer Information and Control Engineering.
