Green1™ sponsored Team Spankin Time Modern Mopar vehicles break 200 MPH

IRVINE, Calif. - Oct. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Adam Montague, owner of Spankin Time Performance in San Bernardino, Calif., along with Jesse Iwuji, an active duty United States Naval Officer, broke the 200 MPH barrier at the Mojave Mile competition held on October 12-13, 2013 in their respective Dodge Challengers.

Montague and Iwuji are two members of Team Spankin Time, an amateur muscle car club based in Southern California, whose members boast 700+ RWHP cars. The duo, along with Joel Highsmith, and his vehicle the “Grizz” will be competing in the upcoming Texas Mile competition, being held on October 26-27, 2013.

The trio all own Dodge Challenger’s, the leader of the Dodge performance lineup.

The Dodge Challenger came from the factory with a then-rated 425 HP at the crank, based on the 6.1L SRT8 package.

Montague, Iwuji, and Highsmith’s vehicles are well in excess of 1,000 HP at the crank with additional room to grow.

All vehicles are daily driven on the street, run on E85 alternative fuel and are fully compliant with all NHRA safety standards.

Green1™ is one of the official sponsors of the club, and is offering a conditional sponsorship to the team beginning in January 2014.

“This is an exciting time for us at Green1,” said Mr. Ajit Narasimhan, Sr. Vice-President of Green1. “To have not one, but two cars break the 200-mile-per-hour mark is a remarkable feat and a testament to the quality and expertise of Spankin Time Performance.”

The three members will be running their respective vehicles in the Texas Mile – a national event which showcases some of the fastest vehicles in the country.

Breaking 200 MPH with a 4,500 + pound vehicle is not an easy task. Compensating for weight with an ungodly amount of horsepower and proper gearing, as well as removing the factory top speed governor are but a few of the steps required to make it to the mark.

Currently, the Modern Mopar record for the standing mile is 204 MPH. Montague and Iwuji don’t just plan on besting the record in the upcoming Texas Mile – they want to destroy the record.
