JazzAntiqua Dance & Music Ensemble Celebrates 20 Years with "ROOTS, RHYTHM & SWING!" at Holden PAC
20th anniversary concert and celebration features choreography by artistic director Pat Taylor and guest choreographer Carlos Jones in collaboration with noted jazz artists Dwight Trible, Brian Swartz and Munyungo Jackson - November 16 at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.
Presented in association with Ebony Repertory Theatre, ROOTS, RHYTHM & SWING! premieres Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center - 4718 West Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles. One of a select few companies committed to the presentation of concert jazz dance, JazzAntiqua Dance & Music Ensemble was founded in 1993 to celebrate jazz as a vital thread in the cultural fabric of African American history and heritage, and a defining element of the American experience. The company has performed at Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, Playboy Jazz Festival (Hollywood Bowl), Ford Amphitheatre, Luckman Fine Arts Complex, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Irvine Barclay Theatre, Lehman Performing Arts Center (NY), The Jazz Bakery, Watts Towers Jazz Festival, California African American Museum, Dance Mission Theatre (SF) and many other venues. JazzAntiqua is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including grants from California Arts Council, Center for Cultural Innovation, Doolittle Foundation, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Frances E. Williams Artists’ Grants and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions.
