One of a select few companies committed to the presentation of concert jazz dance and exploring the interplay between live jazz music and movement, JazzAntiqua Dance & Music Ensemble was founded in 1993 to celebrate jazz as a vital thread in the cultural fabric of African American history and heritage, and a defining element of the American experience. Recent projects include: communal dialogue series The Community Salon (supported in part by California Humanities), performances and master classes at the 10th Annual Congresso Internacional de Jazz Dance (Brazil), a collaboration with Grammy Award-winner Kenny Garrett for the Playboy Jazz Festival, launch of a new, multi-year community outreach initiative ENGAGE!
